I try to take my camera everywhere just in case. But sometimes I still have to whip out my iPhone rather than miss the perfect moment
It’s a real privilege to be asked to capture the most important moments in people’s lives Seeing my pictures on a friend’s wall made me realise I wanted to be a photographer Babies, children and animals are my favourite subjects because even if they’re pulling a funny face it still makes a good shot. And they don’t mind if they’ve got a double chin... Everyone says they hate having their photo taken but they’re always disappointed if there aren’t any pictures of them at the end of the day It’s my job to make you look good - just like yourself, only better It’s important to like your photographer as you’ll be sharing some of the most important moments in your life with them |
A bit of biography
I live in Cheltenham with my husband David, son Charlie and two cats Loki & Isis. I like cheese, barbecues, Neil Gaiman, holidays in Greece, Iron Maiden and reading. I have an obsession with interesting 'transitional' spaces like doors, windows and staircases, and whenever I visit somewhere new I make sure I find and read the war memorial.
Photography was not my first love. Literature came first, (although in those days it was mostly Enid Blyton) and music came second when I started as a chorister. I carried on with both of these by reading Music & English at Southampton University, singing in lots of choirs and performing regularly. Music introduced me to my third love, my husband David, and we met when we sang together at Canterbury Cathedral. Quite soon after this he persuaded me to buy my first digital camera - a 2 megapixel Sony Cybershot. He bought me my first DSLR as a gift on our first wedding anniversary and the rest, as they say, is history.
Some of that history is that I have had a successful corporate career, currently as Business Transformation Manager for Kier Services, whilst still doing lots of singing.
My son Charlie was born in October 2009 and has had a camera pointed at him ever since, which has given my cats a bit of a break from being photographed. We moved to the Cotswolds in 2014 when David was appointed as Director of Music at Cheltenham College.
